Followed HeathenX's Shield Icon Tut...
So how do I make this into an ICON for Windows and Linux?
(if this is not the right spot for this post.. either move it or let me know so I can post in the right spot.)

Use inkscape to save the image as PNG (Export Bitmap) then you can use a program called png2ico to convert it to a Windows icon. I'm not sure how to create Linux icons.

i believe that the gimp will let you save as a .ico file too...

Re: Make an icon for Windows and Linux
Thanks Micro!
Now to combine his tut with yours so it doesn't come out so pixelated and blech as it has been once converted.
@Ryan,
Gimp will save as an XBM but not sure about .ICO... I'll fiddle with it some.

In Linux you can use directly the PNG or even the SVG, you have to do nothing special.

Sure. You can even do more: create .ico files with multiple sizes/color depths by having each version of the icon in a separate layer.
