Hello,
I want to put the text in the form of a certain picture, how can I do that?
So the picture should be outlined somehow, then the outline taken, the picture itself erased and witten inside it.
Easy please, im the ultimate newbe.
Thanks!
Text in picture form?
Re: Text in picture form?
To be sure to understand, you want a text with the image remaining only inside it ?

Welcome to InkscapeForum!
I'm not clear what you're asking. Do you want text, which has the picture for its fill, rather than black or other color?
Ooorr -- It sounds more like you want the text to be shaped like the picture....and a picture is usually square or rectangular. So do you want your text to fit inside the square or rectangle? This will be very easy to do. It looks like a long process, because it takes much longer to type out each step, than to do it.
1 - Engage the Rectangle tool (
).
2 - Click and drag the mouse to form the square or rectangle.
3 - Switch to the Selection tool (
) and locate the H and W fields on the tool control bar (http://tavmjong.free.fr/INKSCAPE/MANUAL ... atomy.html).
4 - Set the Height and Width to match the picture. You may want to import the picture, if you have it on the computer, so you get the right measurements. Go to File menu > Import, to do that. If precision is not important, you could place the mouse pointer of the Rectangle tool on one corner of the picture, and click + drag to the other corner. But it's hard to be precise using that method.
5 - Once you finish making the rectangle, you can delete the picture. (Select and Edit menu > Delete, or use Delete key.)
6 - Engage the Text tool (
).
7 - Click once on the canvas, inside the new rectangle, then type the text.
8 - Switch to the Selection tool (
).
9 - Grab one of the corner arrows with the mouse, and drag until it meets that corner of the rectangle. (So in other words, drag the top right arrow to the top right corner of the rectangle.) If it's important for the text to keep the same proportions, hold the Ctrl key while you drag the arrows.
10 - Grab the opposite arrow with the mouse, and drag to its corner of the rectangle. (So if you dragged the top right arrow to top right corner, next drag bottom left arrow to bottom left corner.) Again, be sure to hold Ctrl key, if you need the text to stay in proportion. I should say that if you do use Ctrl, you will be lucky if the text perfectly fits the rectangle. If you don't use Ctrl key, you can make the text fit perfectly.
11 - If you no longer need the rectangle, you can delete it now.

If it is to have the image only in the text then you can do :
- Put the image in your document as linked image
- Create the text and scale, locate it as desired on the image
- Select the image and select the text with Shift key down
- Then use the Menu : Object / Clip / Set
It is done

In the future, you should start a new topic, unless your problem is identical to another.
I'll answer your question, but we'll probably need more information before we can help.
1 - Using Rectangle tool, draw a rectangle.
2 - Switch to Selection tool, and change W and H values on tool control bar to make it square and the right size.
3 - File menu > Import, to import your picture.
4 - Assuming you want the picture in the center of the rectangle, go to Object menu > Align and Distribute. For Relative To: choose Last Selection
5 - Select the square.
6 - Hold Shift while you select the picture
7 - In Align click Center on Vertical Axis and Center on Horizontal Axis
