File won't save as EPS after using path>exclusion

Postby Heatvision » Sun Jun 02, 2013 7:40 am

So I've been working on this project all day. I have it saved as an svg, and png. Then I needed to alter it and save that altered version as an EPS. So the only difference between this file and the old version is that I took two objects, selected them together overlapping, clicked path>exclusion. The result is it created a quick way to get an outline of the design by deleting the middle. And it works. That's ALL I've done differently. And it refuses to save as an eps. I have plenty of eps designs saved before this, so I'm not that new to this. But it seems the technique used is preventing it from being saved as an eps. Even when I delete the object that was altered, the file saves without problem, but I need it in the design.

So any answers? :?:

Are you saving as EPS 2 and not EPS 3? I've had some weird issues when saving too. EPS 2 is the way to go, you might even have to tick off the box about changing to paths first. Just to get the best try, I'd also probably shut down Inkscape and re-start it, then save as EPS 2 (not Postscript). If that doesn't work, I'm out. There was a recent thread about someone else's problems with EPS too, I can't remember what, maybe you could also search the threads. fyi - sometimes people will need to see your outcome in order to help, if you care to attach it, or a link to a drop box. (anyway, basically thought I'd bump this up for you while you are waiting for a more knowledgeable response).
