Dear all,

I tried to replace Adobe Illustrator completely with Inkscape and everything seems to run pretty fine for my purposes as long as I stay with the svg file format.

My current tasks are mainly like this:
1. I import a jpeg picture which I then decorate with arrows, circles and a few other vector graphics.
2. I save the result as svg --> Everything perfect!!

Now I want to save to pdf (necessary for deployment!) and the resulting colors of the picture within the pdf look totally strange. It seems that Inkscape or the pdf backend Cairo somehow change it.

Any workaround or possible solution for this problem?

Do you use the latest stable release (0.48.1) of Inkscape or a current development snapshot build (>= r10326)?

Not so much for you, I guess, but it makes it easier to link to a known bug report:

• Bug #804311 “Red and blue in linked/embedded bitmap images swapped in cairo-based exports”

Please use the current stable release version (0.48.1) for now to save a copy in (cairo-)based formats (PDF/PS/EPS) and do not solely rely on development builds in a production environment (development snapshots are unstable and work-in-progress by nature). The issue has been reported (a regression introduced in the recent merge of the new cairo renderer in r10326), there is no date set or known yet when it will be fixed (certainly in 0.49 ;) ).

Hmm...good to know that it is already a known problem!

Hopefully 0.49 is out soon. I completely rely on this functionality....
