Hi,
This is some work I am doing to create vegetation for my swampbot project, how you think it looks? Any ideas to improve it?
Some sort of plant
Re: Some sort of plant
Wow, if you added some cactus thorns or spikes, it almost looks like a cholla (shrubby type of succulent plant)(found all over New Mexico and deserty areas). The problem would be having a cactus in a swamp I wonder if you could make it look like it was some sort of vine, creeping along the surface of the swamp, like seaweed or...swamp slime
That is some excellent 3d work! Almost looks like it was made with Blender. But you used Inkscape? Awesome!

Re: Some sort of plant
Yes it is made with inkscape, the 3D effect is actually not that complex to put together, I can post a tutorial if anybody is interested...
The cholla has got spikes indeed, lots of spikes:
Mine is a spikeless swamp variety of cholla
Let me have a look at other plants...

Ah yes, well there are different varieties of cholla, and the ones I've seen have the more typical "cactusy" look, with single spines fairly spaced out.
Oh I am familiar with creating 3d effects with Inkscape. It may be that I'm not experienced enough to find it easy. I can do it, it's just that yours is so polished and perfect looking. I'm sure all I need is more practice
I don't know that you have to create something different, or much different than what you've got. "Swampbot" seems to be a fairly mythical or cartoony kind of character, and I don't see why "swamp cactus" wouldn't work, lol. I guess it depends on how fanciful you want the image to be, in the end. I mean, I can see something like algae, slimy stuff hanging, running and dripping off your swamp cactus. Maybe it even oozes out of it? Yeah, don't mind me, I think my mind is permanently stuck in brainstorm mode, lol!
