I've searched the wiki, manual, web, and this forum and haven't had luck finding any answers, hoping I'm not missing something.

Is there a way to import a PDF that has multiple layers and preserve those layers within Inkscape? I've been creating multilayer PDFs in ArcMap and trying to import them into Inkscape. For the most part I am successful, but all my layers get clumped into one. I'm guessing this functionality just doesn't exist, but if it does I would appreciate some help!

I would recommend putting this in as a feature request.

Google's "Summer of Code" is coming up. This may not be too difficult a task to accomplish if the suggestion were on the table. Might end up in 0.49.
