Re: brynn, clicked export image, still not saving as anythin
Hi,
could you post the resulting image ?
If you're using a (very old) version of internet explorer it could be because of transparency that IE didn't handle.
Anyway windows photo gallery should be able to open it.
How large is your file size ?

Did you see the export bitmap dialog box?
Can you import the image into an open Inkscape window afterwards and have it display properly?
Do you have any other raster viewers/editors on your system? (The GIMP is free,as is Faststone ... )
Your mind is what you think it is.

Oh my, a topic with my name on it, lol!
I've just realized that silverhorse has now 3 recent topics, which all seem to be somehow related:
viewtopic.php?f=5&t=12335
viewtopic.php?f=5&t=12341
and this one
So first, silverhorse, are these all related? Do you not know how to find a message after you post it? Because I replied to the first 2, but I see that you haven't replied to them. Or maybe you did see them, and that's why you've "addressed" this message to me? Anyway, if these are all related, then I can merge them into one topic.
Ok, let's start from the beginning. You need a PNG version of your image, right? Then you need to use File menu > Export Bitmap (not Edit menu > Make a bitmap copy, and not File menu > Save As Cairo png). When you use Export Bitmap, it will ask you where you want to save it. Wherever you decide to save it, remember where you put it. Then after you click the Export button, go to that place using Windows Explorer. When you find it, double-click on it, and it will open in Windows Photo Viewer (not Windows Photo Gallery).
If that's all exactly what you're doing....hhmmm.... Ok, try this. Open the image in Inkscape again. Then go to File menu > Document Properties > Page tab > Border and make sure that "Show Page Border" is checked. Now look on the canvas and make sure that all of your image lies within that border. If it's not, then all or part of your image won't show.
Hhmmm...file not supported..... That kind of error message would probably happen if the image is still in SVG format. I don't think that either Windows Photo Viewer or Windows Photo Gallery can display SVGs. Internet Explorer 9 can display some SVGs, but not all. And previous IE versions can't display at all. This all sort of indicates that you either haven't exported the PNG properly, or that you haven't found the PNG in Windows Explorer. When you navigate to the image in Windows Explorer make sure that the file name has ".png" on the end. If it says ".svg" it will do just what you're describing, with the 'file not supported' message and nothing showing in IE.
If you're sure you're doing all of this just like I've suggested.....well, I''m not sure. Can you show us either the SVG file or the PNG file, either one, please? Maybe the SVG is corrupt, or something??
