A Tiger

Postby microUgly » Tue Oct 14, 2008 8:41 pm

I don't consider this finished, but it's as finished as much as it may ever be :)

EDIT: I forgot to mention this is a tracing. The original photo is by mittelpunkt and can be found at http://mittelpunkt.deviantart.com/art/Tiger-37291119

If you dont consider it finished should I move it to the WIP section for you? :D
Looks good mate, can imagine that the body wasnt as fun as the face was, kinda hard to keep the motivation going once your past the interesting bit isnt it?

Yeah exactly :) And the body was a little more complicated to represent as a vector with the fur and shading--I thought it was going to be easier.

AWESOME microUgly!!!
It's just awesome, finished or not. I love tigers and have several nice photos in my screen saver. I've thought about ways I might do a tiger with Inkscape, given my current abilities. So far, I don't think I could do justice to such majesty as a tiger carries. But you have captured it! Especially the colors and gradients you used stand out to me, they are spot on, and as rish and luscious as the real thing. It makes me want to just reach out and touch, just like I want to touch a real tiger! Fantastic work!!!

I really quite like it! Very inspiring to see what Inkscape can do. My one piece of input would be to add a gradient to where the legs meet the body. Top job otherwise!

It's just brilliant! Awesome work.
But I have a question : why did you choose such a background? Personally I like it, just interesting...

The background was borrowed from another picture I was working on and have since abondoned viewtopic.php?f=9&t=675#p3492

I thought the background complimented the tigers eyes.

That's the kewl thing about the LPE's in 0.47dev--all that fur was created in 20 or 30 minutes. The black markings on his face was slow though.
