Sorry for the title it is the best I've found; here is what I would like to do :



I traced a simple path and I want to joint 2 non consecutive points with a segment (like the one in gray).I can't find a name/function to do this in inkscape because I don't know keywords for a good search.

How should I do that ? How would you do this in a clean way ? I would like the new segment to be attached to the points.

A node (point) can only have two lines not three, but you can draw a new line between the points (use snapping to points), you can then combine the paths by CTRL + K.

After a little bit of reading I managed to snap to points and create the line. It works

But I don't really like it: If I select the single point and move it the other one will not follow. I have to draw a rectangular selection to select the 2 points.

The corner is not really nice : switching from miter join to round join solves this

The snapping can work well; your example image's situation could be improved though.
The lines are going to one node from a less then 180° angle. If not the top and bottom left segments were going from the exact same node,
but the top and the bottom right, there wouldn't appear such spikes.
So the idea is to join only segments below, and closest to 180 degree if in miter stroke join, and set butt cap stroke style.
