Pattern along path strange behavior

Postby amarsianin » Mon Jul 08, 2013 9:16 pm

Hello,

I have the following issue. When I create a simple curve, then a rectangle, convert it to a path, then apply "pattern along path" to both, I get very strange results.

I wasn't able to find a decent answer to this question, so I would like to ask, what could I miss here so that it works so incorrectly.

Some messed up javascript on that link, but from the quick look I got I suspect the problem is that you are using the pattern on path extension, which requires you to add a lot of nodes to simple shapes like rectangles in order to 'bend' them smoothly. Use the add nodes extension. A better approach would be to use the patter along path live path effect, from the bottom of the path menu. This does not require you to add nodes and actually leaves our original object intact and is undoable at any time.
Your mind is what you think it is.
