urgent printing question

Postby Brendan » Thu Nov 12, 2009 1:41 pm

So, I was creating a comic strip on Inkscape for my Latin class, and now I have finished, I need to print it out. This has become a problem. I tried the print icon, and the printer (which is working fine) moved around a bit, but otherwise did not print. I tried emailing it to myself, in the hopes that it would be printable after that, as I had tried various methods. I tried using the computer's camera and a mirror to photograph it, but the screen was too bright. The print preview tool is also failing. I cannot copy it or paste it at all. If it changes the answer in any way, I have a Mac.
Please respond quickly!
Thank You!

What version of Inkscape are you using? How complicated is the drawing? Do yu have blurred objects?

If you are using 0.46 or below, I would try 0.47pre4.

  1. Update your printer driver from Apple and look for alternative Gutenprint drivers (see for example bug #476059 "Can't print properly on OS X 10.6.1")
  2. The other - maybe easier - alternative (besides installing 0.47pre4-1.LEOPARD+) is saving the SVG drawing as PDF file (in Inkscape use 'File > Save as…' and select the 'Portable Document Format (*.pdf)' as export format in the filetype-list below the listed files), then open the PDF file with Apple's 'Preview' and print from there ;-)
