An english version of inkscape?

Get it form the official inkscape website: inkscape.org

Is that what you meant?

There aren't separate French and English versions. So what you need to find out is how to get Inkscape to use the language you want, rather than the language it thinks you want.

There's a section about this on the Inkscape Wiki, but it's not very informative for OS X. Perhaps you could update the wiki if you find out how to do it.

As a brute-force attempt, you could rename the file inkscape.mo in your fr locale to something else (e.g., inkscape.mo.disabled). That should stop Inkscape using French, and it may then default to American English (or it may stop working altogether). Or copy in the inkscape.mo from the en-GB locale in place of the one you renamed - then it will presumably use British English (although it will think it's using French).

deleting or renaming the inkscape\locale\fr folder should work.
Inkscape should fall back to english as the default if it cant find translation files for the system locale.

I dont know where to find the locale folder...when I download it onto my Mac, all I get is the DMG, then I open it up and there are two images, the actual app, and the applications folder. I am supposed to drag the app into the folder.

I JUST figured it out....

I went into System Preferences - International and
went into the language section and where it says "Order for Sorted Lists" I changed it
from French( I don't know why it was listed as French) to English. I then reopened Inkscape and voila - English!

thanks

I just tried lordpyro's fix to no avail. I'm running mac os 10.5.8 and Inkscape 0.47. According to my system settings, only English should display, but I'm getting a mix of languages in Inkscape. Can someone tell me how to fix this? I don't know how to program, but I can follow a step-by-step set of instructions.
