Help me! I need to translate inkscape file into adobe illustrator for screen printer!!!
Re: Help me! I need to translate inkscape file into adobe illustrator for screen printer!!!
Illustrator can open SVG files, but does not support all the same features as Inkscape, so how well it does will depend on what's in the file. If it's just simple shapes you should be okay, but as it becomes more complex, or uses more advanced SVG features (e.g. filters), you're more likely to have problems. It will also depend on the version of Illustrator that the printer is using.
Can you attach the file here? One of the board members might have access to Illustrator to try loading it directly.

Ask the screen printer if they will accept any other file format. Surely they don't expect all their customers to have access to AI! So it's likely they will accept something else.
(If they don't, personally I would think twice about using them, and probably look around for a different service which accomodates other formats.)

gotta remember, corel draw saves AI format, and no one sending stuff to a screen printer will be using indesign. Chances are they're not screen printing this job of his but rather doing something with vinyl, unless it has 2 or 3 colors and they're very specific colors they can use spot color process with. Been a while since i did a 4color process with screen printing but if im not mistaken they use photoshop to separate the colors and not illustrator. Could be wrong as that was 10 years ago.But spot color would be much easier and cleaner to do with a vector file. Either way they shoujld accept an EPS file no problem. But nto sure if inkscape saves to eps?
