Basically, I cannot select/click anything within Inkscape, including objects, settings and icons. Does anybody know what I can do to fix this?

Well the mouse seems to be able to drag a selection box. So the mouse button must work.

There's an issue on Macs that can affect "clickability" but from your video, it looks like you're on Windows.

Maybe try reinstalling Inkscape?

Unfortunately reinstalling it didn't help matters.

Are you using an unusual screen resolution? Any kind of magnifier? More than 1 monitor?

No on all accounts. I only use this program to put these soccer score images together. It just randomly stopped working this week.

[as far as we know similarly affects the Windows port of GIMP too, so not an application-specific issue but likely one to be addressed in the GTK2/Win32 backend of the Gtk+ toolkit (or in the various native Windows applications which may trigger this)]

Previously in this forum, I've seen this kind of issue with a....was an unusual screen resolution (to make everything really big on the screen), and also when someone was using a dual monitor setup. This is the first I've heard of this problem, but it seems serious indeed. I would really unhappy if it happened to me

Sorry to hijack this thread, wasn't sure if I should start another thread or not but..

I just wanted to know if there is a solution to the "not being to click on anything" bug that happens on dual monitor set ups? I got a new computer, worked fine for a few months then all of sudden it just stopped working, nothing has changed been using the dual/extended monitor set up since the start.

It seems reasonable to post here, at least until we can determine if your problem is related to the bug report mentioned above, or if it's something to do with the dual monitor. Afaiu, they are 2 separate issues. I probably don't know much about the dual monitor issue, but I'm sure others do.

If you've read that bug report, you know just about all there is to know about it. Have you been able to try the workarounds mentioned in that report? Do you have any of those programs installed? Or it might be in a report that's linked to that one. (It's been a while since I read it, and I probably didn't read the whole thing -- but glad to do it, if you need help trying what's suggested).

Thanks for the reply I tried looking through these forums and I checked the bug reports I couldn't find anything. I messed around with my monitor settings, uninstalled, reinstalled.. I still can not get it to work properly. It sucks because I just want to use inkscape, they same thing happened to me a few years back so I stopped using the program for years until I bought my new computer but I now get the same problem.

You went through all the suggestions in this report: https://bugs.launchpad.net/inkscape/+bug/1131428? And none of them help? Is it a Lenovo system, for example? Use IntelligentTouchpad, etc.? That report is full of info!

I would suggest posting in the Inkscape User mailing list. You can get individual attention there, from many advanced users, as well as developers. They will be interested in y our problem (I think they will, anyway), and not many devs pariticipate here. https://inkscape.org/en/community/mailing-lists/ Be sure and give all the details about your system. And if you've tried specific steps from bug reports, be sure and give details about which things you tried and which reports.

Thanks so much, I now remember I got Inkscape to start working again when I changed my windows 7 theme to classic, turned off aero. I tried messing around with my theme settings in win10 but it's a bust, even tried high contrast. Last resort is to reset my laptop, it's gunna suck but oh well. I'll see what else I can go in the meantime. For a while it would work if I didn't have it fullscreened and just move the window a little but now that doesn't seem to help anymore.

Sorry to bring this up again, but I figured out what was wrong... my cursor.

Was over at a friends and they mentioned they liked my weird cursor... then it just hit me. I use a custom one from CursorFX. I applied the default cursor and low and behold, inkscape is back to normal.

Just thought I let you know just in case anyone else has the same issue.

I leave it for ~suv to decide whether a bug report should be made. I think it's probably a good idea, to have the "official" documentation (where developers can see it). But we'll see what ~suv says
