My First Peice: Spring

Postby Techno » Tue Jul 29, 2008 2:21 am

EDIT: For updated version see third post.

Image

This is my first illustration drawn in Inkscape - it is based on this tutorial and was really just a way for me to explore Inkscape's features and interface; that said, I would like to hear what all you veterans here think about it!

Inkscape truly is amazing - now I have used it, I cannot believe how I ever survived using raster programs alone!

Nice use of the calligraphy tool. It matches the tutorial very well.

One thing I would do differently to the tutorial is make the furtherest mountain darker and more blue, then make each mountain as you get closer brighter and more green. This will create a better perception of distance between the mountains.

Voila:

I tried making it bluey-green but it didn't work, so I played around with the opacity/blur and I think it creates the perception of depth in the image pretty well. I also slightly increased the opacity of the flowers.
