Hello everybody,
I use Inkscape to modify/create some vector schematics. Then I export a pdf image that I include in a latex file (using the graphics package). But in the generated pdf file, all the objects with alpha < 1 are not visible.
The only workaround I found is to export a eps file (latex can compile figure from eps images), but eps doesn't support transparency and as a result the transparent objects are transformed into bitmaps. As a result the quality is degraded and the file size is several Mo...
The pdf image file exported from Inkspace looks fine (transparent objects display correctly on Preview). I also tried to import the pdf file in order to modify/re-save the file with powerpoint or keynote because there is no problem with transparency in latex when I use these programs. But I am unable to import the image and edit the objects individually, I can only import the image as a whole and in this case re-saving the file doesn't change anything, transparent objects still become invisible after latex compilation.
Thanks for help
Bourinax.
Problem with transparency when using pdf image into latex
Re: Problem with transparency when using pdf image into late
I just found out that if I use Inkscape exported pdf images into the latex source files, the pdf cannot be read by Adobe reader, an error happens when the file is opened. I wasn't aware of this issue because I always use Preview to read pdfs. However by exporting in eps format there is no problem and the vector format is conversed (the latex graphicx package automatically converts the eps's into pdf's).
