Hello, I am a newbie and have been exploring inkscape. At this point I cant tell if I am missing something basic or if my install is broken.
My objective is to get a DXF file out of a TIFF for use in my CNC machine, for engraving.
I have loaded a TIFF and have been successful in some operations:
trace bitmap successfully makes a fit to the TIf file outline, (it is visible).
alt-ctrlC stroke to path done with the result the nodes are visible.
the "graphics" were highlighted or not highlighted. (selected or not for subsequent steps)
When I save as R14, I unchecked the use boxes and get :
File C:\Users\mark\Desktop\BALDORA-inkscape.dxf could not be saved. this message results from both the R14 and R12 formats.
I can successfully save to svg format.
I did look through and search for "could not save" in the forum, found comments on dxf compatibility.
note: on install in my Win 10, 64 bit system, I did not install the python section. Inkscape 0.92.1 r15371
Any advice will be appreciated.
thank you
mark
"file not saved"
Re: "file not saved"
Please do install the python section, and try again. DXF export (and most extensions) depends on the python modules that come with Inkscape.
