Hi all
I've been using Inkscape for a little while now, have previously been an Illustrator user so apologies if I get some of the terminology wrong. I'm doing some work to extract images from an Open Access publication and want to know if there is a way of shrinking the artboard to be smaller than the artwork using something like a box drawing tool. In Illustrator I can do this easily using the artboard tool, but can seem to find an equivalent in Inkscape, I think its a terminology problem when Googling.
All help appreciated
Thanks
John

Hi.
It is in the document properties panel (Shift+Ctrl+D).

Inkscape calls the area that will be printed / is the viewport for svgs the 'page area'.

To add to Lazur's comment, you can set the size in the Document Properties dialog by entering dimensions, but there's also a more graphical option: if you have one or more objects selected, expand the "Resize page to content" controls and you can set the page area to the size of the selected item(s), with optional margins. Sometimes it's easier to draw a temporary rectangle over the content you want in the page, use that option in the dialog, then delete the rectangle.

And it's also in the menu since 0.92: Edit -> Resize page to selection. It's now possible to assign a keyboard shortcut, there isn't one by default, though.
