will not install

Hi, newbie , Please help, When I finish with inkscape install I get "This is not a XML file"
and the program will not work. Any ideas? Thanks, Alan Finley

Please do inform what OS you have and what version you tried to install and where you downloaded the file from.

Installed but not working?????

I have never worked in Inkscape. I received CDL files from client, but only have Illustrator CC 2015, and cannot open these files. I downloaded Inkscape, installed it, but every time I launch it my Illustrator launches and not Inkscape. I am not sure if I installed it wrong.
I work on MAC OS X EI CAPITAL VERSION 10.11.5

I urgently need help as I need to start on the designs.

Are you launching Inkscape or the file? If later - you`ll have to check file associations and change the "Open with..." routine.
