Remove part of an object

Postby antonis_man » Thu Oct 03, 2013 4:50 pm

Hi, I am newby in incscape and I need some help here!
I have designed a car outline and I want to remove some of the bottom space. What I tried to do is to create a new white layer above the outline but in export I get a white rectangle while there is transparency. What I have is in image1 and what I want is in image2.

Thanks

Welcome aboard!

You can convert the stroke of the car shape to a path (Ctrl+Alt+C) and simply subtract the white shape of it.

Also you better convert the texts to paths (Ctrl+Shift+C), and preferably also ungroup the characters (Ctrl+Shift+G),
and combine them (Ctrl+K) together to one path.
As now some part of it is a flowed text, and not everyone has the font you used too.
