automate inkscape tasks

Postby jocpo » Wed Dec 10, 2014 1:27 am

Is there some way to either automate or save an inkscape drawing file so that when opening the file the layer list is open and is shown fully? I open several drawings and copy parts of drawings and paste them to others but need to paste to specific layers. It would be convenient if the drawings would open with the full expanded list. Now I have to go to the tool bar to the layer view icon and open the layer list and even expand the height and width. It's not uncommon that I have 10 layers in my drawings.

Hi.

Go to preferences and select Interface - Windows, tick off "Save and restore the window geometry for each document" plus "Save and restore dialog status".

I have "Save and restore the window geometry for each document" ticked but I don't see a "Save and restore dialog status" choice. I use Inkscape v.47. I only see Dialog: Behavior, On top and Transparency choices. Interface and Windows are separate items in the list.

This may be a case where they wrote options into Inkscape Preferences for functionality that isn't yet available. I'm not sure what window geometry it actually saves....in version 0.47.

However, in the soon to be released 0.91, it actually will open whatever dialogs were open when you saved it last. (I've heard.) You can get the dev version 0.91pre2 now -- https://inkscape.org/en/download/
