If anyone can help that would be great, I have some files with an external link to png files, these have been converted to SVG so I was wanting to relink the original documents to the new file, how would I do this without reimporting them.
I've tried changing the url from say c:/images/giraffe.png to c:/images/giraffe.svg but that doesn't work.

Known issue in Inkscape on Windows platforms:
Bug #168244 in Inkscape: “image tag does not find SVG source”

But even if the SVG document is loaded by the <image> reference - the result might not be what you expect:
