Hi there, I'm totally new to Inkscape and SVGs.
I have used Inkscape to convert a gif file to SVG. The SVG turned out OK, just what I had hoped for. The image is a flag which I made for a Wikipedia page.
I uploaded the file to Wikipedia here: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/File:Nelson_flag.svg
If you go to that page you will not see the picture; it is not displaying on the webpage. The file is there, if you click File:Nelson flag.svg it will appear on its own. But have I done something wrong that's stopping it from embedding properly? I don't know. Thanks for your help.

Re: File created for Wikipedia; does not show up on page
Wikipedia will convert the SVG to PNG since the most dominant web browser (Internet Explorer) does not support SVGs. So the issue isn't really with the SVG, but wikipedia's converter. I haven't looked at the file in detail, but I would try smplifying the drawing by reducing the number of groups, avoid clips, or textured fills. I would also save teh file as plain SVG (as opposed to Inkscape SVG).

Hey man thanks for your reply, after digging around for some hours in the help on wikipedia I found that i just needed to remove the references to the original source file (a gif). now it works OK.
