How, first of all i have to tell that i'm not a graphic designer, the less y know i was learning by my own, i was making the following picture in gimp, but i will like to know how to make it in inkscape to improve the quality:

what i'm trying to do is make a rectangle and then add the text, but i will like to combine this 2 objects that is fusion in one and then change make the perspective to create the "effect" but i don't find how, i think should be something easy, but i'm totally a newbie in inkscape

Draw your rectangle. Add your text, positioned in the rectangle as it would be without any perspective, i.e. as if looking at it straight on. Select your text and your rectangle, do Path>Object to path, and group them. Draw your perspective guide using in the following order: bottom left, top left, top right, bottom right and close at bottom left. Select the group, then shift-select the perspective guide and then do Effects>Modify path>perspective. [Note that the order of selection is, I believe, reversed in 0.47. Using 0.47 you would select your perspective guide then your group.]

Sorry, but how could this possibly work? There is no EFFECTS menu in 0.47

I'm trying to add a simple perspective effect to a piece of text and I'm completely lost!

On all the tutorials and Youtube vids, they use a version which has the EFFECTS>PERSPECTIVE, but the version I have (downloaded today) doesn't have an EFFECTS menu.

WTF???
