Hello all,
I have just used Inkscape to create my first poster for a conference and am very pleased with the results. I am not a tech savvy person, and have been advised by my printing company to create a flattened PDF which is as high resolution as possible? As far as I know, my poster has 2 laters - the title sign and background, and in the background, I have some rectangles with flowed text and maps/graphics.
Please is someone able to advise me, step by step, in a very basic manner, how do I create this flattened PDF at high resolution? Also, what is rasterization and will this affect my print quality?
I have my poster saved as both an SVG and a PDF currently.
Any other tips and tricks to ensure a good quality print? I am printing at about 23 x 33 inches (A1).
Thanks!
Danielle
How to create flattened, high resolution PDF for printing?
Re: How to create flattened, high resolution PDF for printing?
Have you tried with that "Search.." box at the top right? Try with "print" and "pdf" as key words.
I found several useful topics, where some have exactly what you need - step by step guidance.

Hi, thanks for your reply. I have tried searching for those words and cannot really find what I need. I am new to Inkscape, and really don't understand how to do this. I need to get my poster to the printer tomorrow. Does anyone have any advice for me?
Thanks!
Thanks!

I'd save as new svg, convert texts to paths, save a copy as pdf w/ bitmaps @ 300dpi.
For better help, please upload a copy of the svg.

Have a nice day.
I'm using Inkscape 0.92.2 (5c3e80d, 2017-08-06), 64 bit win8.1
The Inkscape manual has lots of helpful info! http://tavmjong.free.fr/INKSCAPE/MANUAL/html/

Page should be resized to content (Document Properties (Shift + Ctrl + D).
Images created in RGB might not come out as colorful as seen on screen when printed.
Save as...choose pdf in the dropdown menu.
To flatten normally means: to combine all layers into a single image.

Bleed: ask your printer, i think standard is 3mm.
DPI should be 300 minimum as tylerdurden said - again, ask the printerservice.

Ok yeah, I just did a test. The PDF I made from a 3 layer SVG appears to only have one layer. I was using Adobe Reader to view it. I found apparently a layers menu, but it was all grayed out.
