Graphics not showing properly in LaTeX

Postby yohBS » Tue Jun 11, 2013 12:17 am

Hello.

I'm new to this forum, and I'm sorry if the question I ask was already answered somewhere, but I couldn't find anything in my searches.

I am writing a scientific paper, and I compile a few graphs into one pretty complicated figure. I use inscape to do this (the graphs are created in Mathematica, exported to pdf and imported to inkscape). Both the .svg and .pdf versions are available here: SVG, PDF. I save the figure as PDF so that I can use it later with PDFLaTeX.

In the figure I have a sketch of the system which I draw manualy (panel (a) in the figure) , and when I compile the TeX file, in some PDF readers the element with the linear gradient fill does not show (nor print).

How can I solve this? I know I can use a rasterized version of the figure (.png) but that kind of misses the point of using vector graphics. Can I just rasterize the gradient element? Is there a way that does not involve rastering?

Thanks in advance?

Sorry for the late answer,
I just had a work-around, not a definitive solution.
I always see that the export to pdf omits some features of the svg standard.
As I said, a work-around, in windows is installing a pdf virtual printer, like pdfforge, which always show me better results than exporting to pdf exporting. If you are in GNU Linux, i think that it's also possible to install virtual pdf printers, like cups-pdf.

Hope that works
