I know the basics of adding text to a path, but how do I make the text on the bottom of my circle path stay right side up? I want Happy at the top of the circle and Birthday at the bottom. When I add it, Birthday has the bottom of the letters on the outer edge of the circle, but I want the top of the letters on circle so that Birthday still reads from left to right.

Any help would be appreciated!

You have to put Birthday on a different circle, larger by the text height. And you have to cut the circle (in half horizontally for example) and put the text on the bottom part. If it doesn't come out right undo and reverse the bottom part and then put the text on it (you can delete the top part).

Just to add to the above msg, I would ensure to do two separate actions, one for 'happy' and one for 'birthday', you can group them together when done, if desired.
You can also make your own arc shape to use instead of a circle, I find that a bit easier for the 'birthday' word. Once made you can attach it to whatever object (or circle) that you want to.

I can't quite picture what you're trying to do, so if all these suggestions don't work, you could post a screen shot or example of what you want to do.

I just wanted to mention that you might need to reverse the direction of the path for the 'birthday path'. Although again, I'm not completely sure what you're doing.
