Strange behaviour of "Cut Path"

Postby wworld » Sun Apr 10, 2011 10:37 pm

I just encountered a problem, I cannot explain:

I have two paths, as you can see the black one is in foreground:
before.png
before.png (12.02 KiB) Viewed 911 times

When I select Path->Cut Path I get this:
after.png
after.png (6.15 KiB) Viewed 911 times

If I move the black path at least 1 unit upwards before applying the cut, I get the expected result:
after2.png
after2.png (11.22 KiB) Viewed 911 times

I can't figure out, why the behaviour is such different depending on the exact location of the black cutting path. Can anyone help me out?

Unfortunately a known bug ( https://bugs.launchpad.net/inkscape/+bug/166302 ) To make it cut properly, there has to be a node between the cut path and the end of the path that you want to cut.

OK, thank you. So I got it working by inserting additional nodes.
