inkscape print function does not print pattern

Postby Bill.YEG » Sat Apr 27, 2019 11:30 am

When I print the attached SVG using the Print function in the File menu, the pattern behind the text "Open" isn't printed, as shown in the JPG of a scanned print. I printed on two different laser printers with the same result.

However, when I export, the pattern is present as expected as shown in the PNG.

This is on Windows 10.

Thank you!

Here are links to the JPG and PNG in my Dropbox. (I hope it's okay to do this this way; the forum says the files are too big to attach.)

It might be the odd font. Please try converting the text to a pattern filled path before printing and see what happens!
Alternately, you could save as a PDF and see what happens when printing from Acrobat.
Your mind is what you think it is.

Try if it works better when you put the pattern origin (the x-shaped handle) inside the text (with the node tool). There is a known issue with patterns not displaying properly when the origin is too far away from the object. It also becomes evident when you zoom out too far. It is supposed to be fixed, but it looks like the fix isn't enough. I just reopened the report.

It might be that updating Inkscape improves creation of such patterns, but not sure. Display is definitely problematic, also with 0.92.4.

As a workaround, what happens if you export as pdf and print that, or if you use the text to clip a rainbow-colored area?
