Hello , after banging head on wall - well desk at least wonder if someone can help please
I am creating playing cards for an iphone app written by a friend, I have successfully created the image in inkscape - dont know if I can paste here but it is a rounded rectangle with a 9 upper left and bottom right(upside down and reversed) with a spade in the same orientation under both 9's. I then save it to the only png format that Inkscape offers me is Cairo png - now I dont know if that if different to a normal png
Anyhow when I open the png file in Inkscape or photoshop or any programme what I now see is a white background peaking around the edge of the border of the rectangle, I could just make it square and I guess that would sort the problem but I think the rounded corners lookd better.
During creation I have set the document properties to fit to the selection so my file is 0.986 x 1.333 inch which is about the size that is needed apparently.
So as I have promised to create a full pack of cards really would appreciate help advice or any hints of tips on how to do this in an easier way
thanks so much for your patience and simple explanations to a newbie user of inkscape and vector things generally

Re: creating png for iphone app
Don't use Save as Cairo PNG, use the Export to PNG (there's a button on the toolbar) which is the "official" way.
If you plan to share a vector format in any way make sure to convert text to paths in case people who will look at it don't have the font you used (the 9 or spade). Keep the text in a separate hidden layer for future reference. This of course doesn't matter if you only plan to use PNGs.
Do you also need help about the page size? Let us know.

Re: creating png for iphone app
Technically it says 'Export bitmap', at least in last stable releasee 0.47. Not sure about dev version?
