exported PNG partially exporting

Postby trinker » Sat Apr 13, 2013 3:48 am

I imported this .eps file: https://dl.dropboxusercontent.com/u/618 ... s/file.eps

It looks fine:

but I want to export it as a png. I do so and open the .png and it looks like this:

Image

Notice a bit of the original is there (and int he correct location) but the rest is covered over with what appears to be a white block. How can I get this .eps file to save as a .png? Why is this happening?

I cannot open your linked file in inkscape. The program refuses to open it, so I opened it with a notepad to see the codes.

Code: Select all

%!PS-Adobe-3.1 EPSF-3.0
%ADO_DSC_Encoding: MacOS Roman
%%Title: CLARI_06_Full_4color_CMYK.eps
%%Creator: Adobe Illustrator(R) 13.0
%%For: helios7
%%CreationDate: 3/20/08
%%BoundingBox: 0 0 470 103
%%HiResBoundingBox: 0 0 469.0806 102.6001
%%CropBox: 0 0 469.0806 102.6001
%%LanguageLevel: 2
%%DocumentData: Clean7Bit
%ADOBeginClientInjection: DocumentHeader "AI11EPS"
%%AI8_CreatorVersion: 13.0.2
%AI9_PrintingDataBegin
%ADO_BuildNumber: Adobe Illustrator(R) 13.0.2 x434 R agm 4.4379 ct 5.1039
%ADO_ContainsXMP: MainFirst
%ADOEndClientInjection: DocumentHeader "AI11EPS"
%%Pages: 1
%%DocumentNeededResources:
%%DocumentSuppliedResources: procset Adobe_AGM_Image 1.0 0
%%+ procset Adobe_CoolType_Utility_T42 1.0 0
%%+ procset Adobe_CoolType_Utility_MAKEOCF 1.23 0

%%+ procset Adobe_AGM_Core 2.0 0
%%+ procset Adobe_AGM_Utils 1.0 0
%%DocumentFonts:
%%DocumentNeededFonts:
%%DocumentNeededFeatures:
%%DocumentSuppliedFeatures:
%%DocumentProcessColors:  Cyan Magenta Yellow Black
%%DocumentCustomColors:
%%CMYKCustomColor:
%%RGBCustomColor:
%%EndComments

This is how the top looked like.
I don't know if it's the same file that you wanted to export, but if it is, I'm then clueless how could you open it in inkscape.
Inkscape doesn't support CYMK colour mode, which the eps is in.
Also, 10924 lines of code seems to me too much for a graphic with such detail level.
By the way I cannot see if the part that you could get exported is not in the right position.
Another thing, if you want an image like that exported, you may add some space next to the current one's edges, avoiding any problem from anti-aliasing.

Hi

Lazur URH;
I cannot open your linked file in inkscape. The program refuses to open it, so I opened it with a notepad to see the codes.

The file opened perfectly in Inkscape on my system - (Win7 - Inkscape 0.48+devel r12274)
It even exported perfectly as png.
In the exported PNG file the background got a slight blue "tint" making the white part of the "swirl" visible. I don't know if that was intentional. (A white rectangle the size of the page got rid of the blue "tint". Used in the example below.)

Workaround if the open - export fails;
Drop your file here to get it converted to SVG; http://image.online-convert.com/convert-to-svg

Converted SVG file;
file.svg
(42.5 KiB) Downloaded 170 times

Exported PNG;
File.png
File.png (137.88 KiB) Viewed 1041 times

Confusing.
Inkscape 0.48+devel r12024 and Inkscape 0.48.4 r9939 couldn't open it here, running on xp.

It's hard to say without having the SVG file. I'm not set up to handle EPS, but I could look at the SVG, if you could post one. But having said that, I'm curious if you tried to export the PNG directly from the EPS? That could be the trouble....I guess....maybe Export Bitmap works best, or maybe works only on SVG files? I'm just guessing about that, but it might not be hard to try Saving As SVG, and then try exporting the PNG. Be sure to use either the Page, or Drawing option from Export Bitmap dialog. :D
