I mentioned my extensions for boardgame design (that are hopefully also useful also for other purposes) in an old post, but there has been many updates since then:

... and I wanted to link to those video tutorials created by Daniel Wilcox:

The countersheet plugin was designed to produce sheets of lots of similar components (ie counters or cards), combining SVG objects from different groups in Inkscape as described in a spreadsheet CSV file.

Re: Inkscape Boardgame Extensions
Thanks for the info, pelle
I wish I could try making a game, but not sure where to start. If I were to create graphics for a game with Inkscape, how would I make the game work? I assume I would have to learn about scripts (javascript for one), and maybe even learn (not to mention buy!) Flash software? Aside from the tutorials you provided links to, do you have any tips for 1st time game designers....novice game designers?

Re: Inkscape Boardgame Extensions
Know this is an old topic, but I wanted to give a shout out to board game designers out there. I'm currently designing a board and I want to try vectorize it with Inkscape.
To brynn, in case you're still interested, it's unanimous: paper prototyping. Get some sheets, a pencil/pen and a pair a scissors. And make it like that, before you even turn on a computer. Board gaming is (mainly) an off-computer experience, and design should mirror that. You may also use other board game pieces/boards you may have. Take them all out, look at them and see what you can make them do, rather than seeing what they were made for.
And have fun. Designing games is one of the most fun experiences you can have. Forget objectives and get lost in it.
Hope to exchange tips/experiences with the game designer community of Inkscape!
Peace,
TheHorusHawk

Oh, I guess I misunderstood. I thought it was for boardgames that you play on the computer.
I would guess that most game designers using Inkscape are designing computer games. Although I could be wrong.
