Hello

this is my first post to the Inkscape Forum.
My problem is i can't get a piece of text to follow my circular path.
I have tried shift clicking the text and the circle -selecting 'Object to path' and then (text) 'Put on Path'.
Nothing happens and the dialogue box states "No objects to Convert to path"

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Its hard to tell what might be wrong with your workflow.

I just tried a few different things:
you can put text on a circle without converting the circle into a path.
Also the z-order doesnt matter. So if i draw the circle first and then the text or the other way round, i can still put it on the path.
Same with selecting.

So draw your circle, type your text, make a rubberband-selection and go to 'Text -> Put On Path'.

You cant put text converted to paths on a path. Maybe thats whats wrong ?
It also doesnt work, when you, perhaps accidentally, grouped the circle.

Here´s a simple example for you to compare.

Don't convert the text to path by doing 'object to path' with the text selected together with the circle.
Only text objects can be aligned with at circle. And the text becomes a path when you do 'Object to Path'.
Just select both, then use the Text -> Put on Path command.
