Exported PNG missing parts

Postby RickW » Sun Nov 18, 2012 5:47 pm

I'm having an issue with this SVG: http://sourceforge.net/projects/svg-car ... t/download

I tried to upload it directly, but it's too large. It is an SVG of playing cards from SourceForge. Using 1024 as the export width produces some missing areas in some of the JQK. Use 2048 and a lot is missing from the King of Diamonds.

I tried the exports using .48.2 on both Linux and OSX with the same results. I compiled 0.48.3.1 on Linux, also with the same result.

Is there a work-around or I have I hit a limit of some sort?

Note that I've worked around this by importing into GIMP and picking the desired dimensions...nothing appears to be missing when I do it that way.

Regards, Rick

Welcome Rick!

Perhaps not so much a limit, as a bug. And actually I can't remember if it's a bug in Export Bitmap or in Inkscape's renderer. Try changing width or dpi in Export Bitmap dialog by one of the smallest units possible. Or try changing the zoom on the canvas before you call up Export Bitmap dialog, by 1. If you know what you're doing, you might change the zoom on canvas and compensate by changing the dpi in Export Bitmap.

I don't understand why, but changing any of those can sometimes find the sweet spot. Of course none are a good solution, especially if you need precision. In the next major version release (0.49) Inkscape will have a new renderer, which if I'm not mistaken, is expected to help with this kind of thing.

Or maybe someone else will know a better solution?

Edit
