Welcome to InkscapeForum!

What is "HQ"? If it has anything to do with CMYK print color, Inkscape doesn't natively provide that yet. But someone has written an extension, which will create CMYK color in either PDF or TIF formats.

But maybe HQ means something else?

Hi
brynn;

To me HQ is - High Quality.

fred9300;
Save the file as PDF direct from Inkscape - set DPI to 300 or even higher depending on your quality requirement.
Tested on your files just fine - can upload the files to dropbox if you fail saving "HQ" pdf.

Nice design!!

Well, I was thinking "high quality" too. But what exactly does this member mean by high quality? It looks like you think of high quality, in terms of resolution.

Mm, that would be my guess as well: high quality, probably meaning: 300 DPI print quality.

I'm going to download one of the listed files. A bit of experimentation and I'll see if I can get a 300 or so DPI PDF out of it.

Opened that svg.
The only thing that cannot be converted to hq -my guess: vector- pdf, is that pink png in the front.
Doesn't really necessary to use it, as you have the same pattern as a vector copy in the background pattern.
There are some other aspects that could be handled better, but it wont effect the quality just the file size.

Okay. This is what I've got so far.

I don't have all the fonts listed in the document, in particular a font called "EraserDust" on the chef's chalkboard. So I'll leave the converting to Fred9300.

Try these steps.

From the file menu: File > Save As...
In the dialog box: Click the text to the right of Save as type... and choose Portable Document Type (*.pdf). Click the Save button.
Portable Document dialog box:

[PDF 1.5] Restrict to PDF version
    [x] Convert texts to paths
[ ] PDF +LaTeX: Omit text in PDF, and create LaTeX file
    [x] Rasterize Filter effects
    [300] Resolution for rasterization (dpi)
[ ] Export area is drawing
    [x] Export area is page
From this point, open the PDF and print. Let us know if this is the print quality you're looking for, Fred9300.

And the point of adding this post? You're telling the artist how to do his job?

Lazur? If you're not going to answer the OP's post, then surround your message in [offtopic] please. The OP's questions is:

Seriously: If you're not going to answer the original poster's question (which can certain include asking him/her questions for clarity), either avoid answering or mark it offtopic.

^You cannot be serious.^
Working on it.
Oh yes, yes I can.
Produce it, theoretically in high quality.
Was that answer informative enough for your needs?

If you opened that svg you could see the things I mentioned.
See how things wont turn out high quality, as some things are not right.
If I correct them, is that telling him how to do his job, or worst: doing it over?

Seriously. Waning Moon.

svg here (click on the image):

SVG Image

pdf:

Could go on for hours on cleaning details. As it will be on a card, noone will recognise them.
Off topic:
Not as with that open real estate banner.

Off topic:
No options were ticked when saving to pdf, the rasterisation were set to 90 dpi -as there is nothing to be rasterised.

Off topic:
Changing the font to outlines doesn't effect the quality.
Not a problem like couldn't get to print the fonts out as planned was mentioned.
You are right, it is a better idea to change all fonts to outlines, as now chrome cannot render the same fonts inkscape does.
But that really is not a thing I could help: fred9300 should save the svg as he has the original fonts.

Off topic:
Theoretically it can be printed "high quality", if rgb colour profile is good enough.
But then again, the quality refer to the aesthetic, which is based on the drawing itself, not just the technic.
If I were to look at the result as an "artsy designer", I can't say the quality got any bit better.
Based on that, I would have to redesign the whole thing, to make it "high quality" to my likes.
Which I didn't do, I apologize.

Ok,
I have learned that once the file is in the PDF format, I needed to save it with Printer ready specs.
So here it is, in Acrobat:
Edit, Preferences, Color Management,
Settings: North America Prepress 2
Working Specs: just change CMYK: US Web Coated (Swop) v2

hit ok and I was good to go.
Thanks so much.

ON TOPICONTOPICONTOPICONTOPICONTOPICONTOPICONTOPICONTOPICONTOPICONTOPICONTOPICONTOPICONTOPICONTOPICONTOPICONTOPIC!

These forums are, as far as I know, a repository of techniques and advice for future questions as well as the original poster's question. Otherwise why would so many moderators tell people to' search the forum'?
Upon examining the file I find that Lazur's advice is most relevant, given the OP's use of an undefined term 'HQ' (which only refers to video playback in any technical sense). I don't understand why so many users, who must know better, simply do not point this out, because their silence makes it seem as if Lazur's point really must be irrelevant (-phant). Even though I might be punished for it, (as soon as the punishment tools are in place!) I can't let my silence be used for such purposes.
To point out the good sense of what Lazur has said here for future readers of this topic:
There is NO benefit in checking the 'rasterize filter effects' box and choosing a DPI if there are no filter effects used in the file. None.
The DPI of an embedded bitmap is not affected by the DPI field in that export dialog box. The pixel size of the bitmap you put in is what you are stuck with. It is a waste of time to tinker with this box to fix a poorly printing bitmap. (Sorry, Ragnar! I hope you don't mind my saying that about your comment! )
There is no point in referring to a PDF as having a particular DPI, since it contains so many vector elements. This usage is misleading, especially for novice users of the format. Rather one needs to look at the pixel dimension of the embedded bitmaps and relate that to the size they are going to be printed. In this file that would be just about 2600 PPI, more than enough for any print application. Other problems in the file such as transparency and 1700 unused definitions which may not contribute directly to a particular problem but may be creating other problems should be fixed before sending off to a printer and possibly wasting a lot of money. It's like seeing someone getting ready to drive off with a bag of groceries on the roof of their car.
Lazur's point as I see it, was to direct the poster to the possible problems in the file, pointing out which aspects of the PDF export were not relevant for this file, while discussing issues that apply to files like these in general. I for one don't see what could possibly be off topic about any of that.
And finally, although the OP may have been satisfied that their problem was solved if a user should disagree, for the sake of future readers with a similar problem I would say that disagreement is still on topic.

You are right - with those restrictive rules - which I don't subscribe to - we might carry on somewhere else?

See my signature... Why not try to rewrite the book? At what point did the conclusion become inevitable? Have we passed that point or is there still time to change the ending?

Good point, will try "rewriting the book" - to give it a happy ending!
In my opinion - the most enjoyable threads the last couple of days have had more off - than on topic posts!
