couple times now, when I've tried to import, nothing responds when I click on it.
twice, it helped to click on the little icon in the top left (pencil and paper) but now, nothing's working.
anyone else experience this? is there a workaround?
thanks!

Import dialog items become "unavailable"
Re: Import dialog items become "unavailable"
Inkscape Version? OS/platform?
Did you happen to open a file from a mounted device (network, USB stick, etc.) recently which is no longer mounted?
Or could it be that the first item in the opened directory is a very large or complex SVG file which takes a long time to produce a preview image (with the stable version, the preview is generated even if turned off in the dialog)?

Re: Import dialog items become "unavailable"
all the items in question are small files, png, jpg or inkscape-created svg files; none are complex..
all files reside on an internal 7200 rpm drive.
was using a recent nightly build of Inkscape, and OS X Lion 10.7.1
thank you!

I haven't noticed this with my recent local development builds (the ones from modevia do not run on my rather old Mac OS X 10.5.8).
Are all widgets in the dialog unresponsive, or can you close it by clicking on 'Cancel'? Alternatively, does <Esc> close the dialog, or the close button provided by the system in the window decoration of the file dialog? Or does Inkscape itself turn completely unresponsive and you had to close it externally (using the dock icon context menu or the Activiy Monitor)?

Re: Import dialog items become "unavailable"
exactly..all widgets are unresponsive.
the only way I can get out of it is to hit enter (Open) then when I'm asked to link/embed, I can cancel from within the main Inkscape interface.
