I'm new to using Inkscape so sorry if this question is a bit basic.
I'm using Inkspace 0.48
I am trying to learn Inkscape from the online book "Inkscape:A Guide To Vector Program"
I am stuck in the Quick Start section " The Northern Pacific Railway Logo"

How do get the paths spread out as separate images as shown in the instructions?

They don't!- The tutorial is just showing you what they look like, the results are always stacked.

Actually there's a checkbox along the bottom for "Stack Scans". I think if you uncheck that, the scans are side-by-side. I think, lol!
