Postby Kid riddlin » Sun Feb 01, 2015 1:18 pm

is there anyway to have the measurements stay visible after you release the mouse button?

Hi

Press the spacebar before you release the mouse button!
Next question will be; How do I get rid of the thing? :)

Nice!
Have a nice day.

I'm using Inkscape 0.92.2 (5c3e80d, 2017-08-06), 64 bit win8.1

The Inkscape manual has lots of helpful info! http://tavmjong.free.fr/INKSCAPE/MANUAL/html/

so I do enjoy using inkscape and im glad for the measurement tool but.... (yes again with the but) I want the measurements to stay and then be able to put another set of measurements on but when I go to use the tool again it makes the first set of measurements disappear. I want to be able to put multiple measurements on these drawings so they can be used as specs for installations and also for sqft pricing and things like that. I would regularly put them on 1 at a time on my own but if I have a tool that can do it for me then I would love it. thanks

Hi.

I agree - having the measurements ending up as objects (maybe in a separate layer) would be nice. Until we get "permanent" measurements you can go this route;

By first using Extension - Visualize Path - Dimension, then select the dimension line and use Visualize Path - Measure Path you get pretty close to what you want for dimensions.

I guess that's a good start. it doesn't give put the actual dimension #s on the display but it does make the markers for me. thanks

Hi,
Isn't it better to use the "Convert to item" option in the measurement tool to retain it forever? That way we can take as many measurements as possible.

I think that option wasn't available at first, but it is now.
