Contour: Can't make it with inset/outset

Postby romor » Mon Mar 01, 2010 11:07 am

Hi,
I just tried using Inkscape, and it's great program
However, I need to do contour (CDR command) on an object, and just can't make so I joined this forum for help
I guess answer is simple, as this is driving me to nowhere, but than this is my first day actually working in Inkscape

For the purpose of contour I use inset, but object got heavily deformed in the process (and making it to path just results the same)
I'm working on more complex object, but here is inset/outset sample on circle i.e. (source black in the middle and inset/outsets are red, if it's not too obvious):

So, I want to ask, am I using wrong command or there is some hidden setting that I can not find?

Thanks

You want a linked offset. It's under the path menu.

So, it was just there in-front my nose
Thanks
Works as expected

Inkscape help system is at it is, and while there is convert help for AI users, my main reference is keyboard shortcuts page, http://www.inkscape.org/doc/keys046.html, for finding my way from CDR to Inkscape :o

Cheers

Inset and outset are quite buggy, in my experience.
