Cutting text

Postby Just2Much19 » Fri Sep 28, 2012 9:01 am

OK so I have been using this and ai for a little while with little to no issue. I just imported a fist vector then added text and angled it in ai. I opened it in Inkscape and then saved it so I can print it to my plotter. When I go to print it, as it tried to cut the letters it makes small cuts and jumps around, thus not completing the cuts, not being efficient, etc.

I have searched but haven't found exactly the issue. The file is too big so I cant post it. Any ideas?

Thanks in advance for your help!

Welcome to InkscapeForum!

When you say "fist vector" does that mean it's an image of a fist? Or is that some kind of graphics term that I'm not aware of?

Is it just the text that's affected? Or does it happen to other objects? Did you add the text in Inkscape or AI? It sounds like there's a bunch of short and disconnected paths. But that's probably the first thing you looked for. Have you tried to cut anything else since this problem? Have you noticed this behavior with the cutter machine, when cutting any other images? I'm just wondering if the machine might be malfunctioning.

You could zip the file and attach that. But it would be helpful if you could say what size it is, so we'll be prepared. Because for example, I probably can't handle bigger than a 5 to 10 mb file. Inkscape probably can't open it on my system. But others could probably open it.
