Hi!

My social networking alias is Raymond Wayfahrer and I am somewhat of a very junior designer or something like that. I have had some progress but nothing professional yet but I am looking forward to that. I am looking to build a social network around 'Raymond Wayfahrer' and also contribute to the Inkscape community by volunteering. I am male, 39 years of age and I see this as my hobby for now.

I have an idea to start an 'Inkscape User Group' with its main base in a facebook group. When that is up and running I will promote that. As mentioned above im into building a social network around me with the focus on vector graphics so please add me on facebook: 'Raymond Wayfahrer'.

Here is my latest work in Inkscape... :)

Cheers.

Welcome to Inkscape Community!

Oh, I like that graphic -- the gear coming out of the refrigerator!  Now I'm imagining opening the refrigerator and seeing all kinds of jars and bowls with Inkscape logos on them.....  Well, maybe I've been awake a little too long    :-P

This is good timing for you.  There is some interest within the Inkscape community, to build an active Facebook group.  You'll want to join the Inkscape user mailing list, at least, and post about your group there.  I'm sure you will get some replies and interest.  https://inkscape.org/en/community/mailing-lists/  There was some discussion recently, although I can't remember the details (I don't participate in social networking myself, so I didn't pay close attention).  I think they want to make an "official" Inkscape group.  I don't know if you'd be interested in that, or if you only want to have your own group.  But you can ask about it on the mailing list, if you're interested.  If not, you will still reach a lot more Inkscape users by posting there.

You also might want to register on the Inkscape website, if you haven't already.  Then you could upload some images to the gallery (still relatively  new), and be able to keep up on the news, and stuff like that.  We just added a Community To-Do List, with some important jobs that need to be done, but which no one so far has found the time or interest to do.  https://inkscape.org/en/contribute/to-do-list/  If you  have any of those skills, maybe you would like to tackle one of those tasks?  Some more opportunities are discussed here -- https://inkscape.org/en/contribute/  And of course, there is always the hard core developing and bug tracking type work too.

Thanks for posting!  I'm glad to meet you, and hope you can build a successful FB group, and find a way to volunteer your time and energy.  As Inkscape is finally approaching the long awaited version 1.0, it's an exciting time to be part of the open source process  :D
