Because of the last minute addition of the new gradient mesh tool (as a test) which is available in 0.92pre3 (see links above), there's been another pre-release to fix some bugs that were found.

0.92pre4 can be found here, temporarily  https://launchpad.net/inkscape/0.92.x/0.92pre4  (There seems to be some problems with the site, and it couldn't be uploaded there.  The site was actually offline due to problems with the host, on Saturday.  But I expect they'll be fixed very quickly.)  I'll post the permanent link on the site, as soon as it's available.

It looks like the gradient mesh is definitely going to be released in the stable 0.92!!  :yay:

And now we have 0.92pre5, which is mostly bug fixes.  With this announcement, the developers say that 0.92 stable release is only days away!  If you should want to test pre5, you can download here:  https://inkscape.org/en/download/development-versions

Hello,

I see 0.92 released to download, but I can't match it against launchpad milestones.
In launchpad I see 0.91.1 - not fully reached, never released, 0.92 - not fully solved, but a 0.92 released and I think it is not right to have partially and mixed versions released without moving the remaining tasks moved to some future milestones as they won't match the released version number regarding the tasks fixed.
Any cleanup scheduled?

BTW, Avast thinks it is a suspicious activity in the installer and the binaries taken from the portable version archive. I wait for their resolution.

Mmm, well I don't understand much about milestones and version control things.  So I can't speak to that.  Officially, 0.92 isn't released yet, but it sounds like they're planning to do that tomorrow.  Even though there are some packages on the website (in the gallery) ready to download, they may not be the final versions.

You might want to mention these things on the mailing list, if they aren't resolved by the time the stable release is announced.

I think I did see where Bryce was having trouble finding help to get the release ready.  Maybe those are some of the things he needs help with?

Well, I see 0.92 version available on the Inkscape main page.
It looks official to me.

With what does he need help?

The milestoning hasn't been fully updated yet. Please refer to the (fairly complete) release notes in the mean time. Bryce still needs to update his script that will mass-re-milstone the bug reports.

There is no portable app this time, where did you find that?

And yes, 0.92 was released about 12 hours ago, see message by Bryce on the devel mailing list :)

Hi,

I was probably one of the earliest adopters with Avast. Now, they've guaranteed it is safe.
Anyway, I call it portable the Windows binary archive, it is the closest one to be portable.

I am happy to see the new mesh tool and I hope it is possible to use it with scripting too.

Habitual bitching about lack of Mac Support.
I'm using some Dark themes GTK2 version of 91, and have had very few problems.
Will the move to the C++11 standard make it any easier to get a version of Inkscape that acts like a Mac App? X11 was always unusable and hunting down a decent GTK Version is always a nightmare.
Since apparently GTK is being dropped altogether I'm guessing I will never see a version of .92 that woks as well as .91 on my Mac.

Unfortunately, I don't understand very much about these issues for Mac users.  I happened to see a discussion on the developers irc channel, the other day, about the changes with Mac versions of Inskcape.  But I didn't understand it hardly at all.

Anyway, I just wanted to say Welcome Ratteler!

Yes, version 0.92 has been officially released!  Download

As far as I understand, the developers are planning for 0.92.1 pretty soon.  (of course "soon" is always relative, haha)

I just installed the snap package on Kubuntu and Manjaro KDE but the interface is very old looking :

Inkscape 0.92.jpg
*Inkscape 0.92.jpg
(122.24 kB . 726x524)
(viewed 1456 times)

Can I bring back the KDE interface ?

Also I can't install the snap package on OpenSUSE Leap 42.2.
The Inkscape download page indicates you have to install snapd, which I successfully did by following the instructions under OpenSUSE.
But then doing a :
Code: [Select]
sudo snap install inkscape

returned :
Code: [Select]
error: cannot communicate with server: Post http://localhost/v2/snaps/inkscape: dial unix /run/snapd.socket: connect: no such file or directory

Any idea ?

Welcome to the forum!

I'm not a Linux user (yet), so I can't help with that.  But I'm sure a Linux user will be along soon.  Out of curiosity, what is a snap?

But that looks like a normal Inkscape window to me.  Are you used to the dark gray background or theme?

Thank you. I guess I'll have to wait until the interface is worked on.
I'm still having this OpenSUSE problem though.

Hello,

It is my first time using Inkscape forum. :)

I try to download Inkscape 0.92 for window 62-bit version from Inkscape official website, but it pops up an error message.  It stops me downloading it...seems like Trojan virus attached along with the download.

Any suggestions, or it's a problem need to be fixed? :???:

See error message below.

The download file contains a Trojan virus, it has been quarantined.  The virus is identified by 360 Total Security.
Trojan file: Inkscape -0.92.0-x64-1.exe
Risks: Trojan (HEUR/QVM20.1.0000.Malware.Gen)

2 things to do first:

- make sure that your anti-virus software is up-to-date
- also make sure that https is activated for inkscape.org

If you then still get that popup, please make a bug report at https://bugs.launchpad.net/inkscape as soon as possible, or send an email to the developers' mailing list (you need to subscribe to be allowed to send mails there: https://lists.sourceforge.net/lists/listinfo/inkscape-devel). Please include the download link for the file in your report or message.

I've just downloaded fresh copies of all Windows versions, for 0.92, and didn't see any problems.  As long as you're downloading from https, I think you should be safe to try again.

Hi Brynn:

I have no luck... :-|  I might have to generate a bug report as per Moini's advice.

And you're sure the address in the address bar is:

https://inkscape.org/en/download/windows/

and not

http://inkscape.org/en/download/windows/

That one little "s" is so important!

If you're going to the Inkscape website from a link, try not using the link, and copying the address (with the "s") and paste it in to the browser.  If you're following a link, where is it?  Maybe we can ask that website owner to fix the link.  (edit - although I guess the website uses a redirect for http to https?)

Edit - Or the other problem could be that your security program is giving a false positive, meaning that it thinks there's a virus in it, but there's not.

Do you have access to another computer, or you can use a tablet, or some kind of way to download the program without 360 Security?

It seems that Total Security isn't the best tool for doing virus scans:
http://forum.kodi.tv/showthread.php?tid=264099

(maybe you know kodi, it's widely used for running media centers)

Someone tested the download at

https://www.virustotal.com/de/url/1d612b74f2d0a3281ab4500c5d330a37144f612a15e1ee9a5435136f2bbbefd2/analysis/

and nothing was found.

I guess it's a false alert.

If you know how to do a md5 sum check on your download, you can use this md5sum for testing:
https://media.inkscape.org/media/resources/sigs/Inkscape-0.92.0-x64-1.exe.md5

(An md5 sum is a way to make sure that a file is unchanged)
