In Inkscape 0.92 WriteTex is involved, but when I apply my formula, nothing is happening. I'm beginner with using Inkscape. Where is the problem? Thank you.

Welcome to the forum!

Hhm, you must have installed that extension.  I don't seem to have it.  Can you give me the link where you downloaded it, so I can test (or someone else can, in case I can't figure out the problem)?

In the dialog in your screenshot, I'm not sure what "Preamble File" means.  Do you know?

The only thing I can think offhand, is that you might be getting a result, but it's not showing on your screen.  There's a known bug that might be causing the result of the extension to be placed somewhere that you have to scroll to find it.  If it's a new blank file, the result might not be very far away.  But if it's a file where you've done some work already, it could be hard to find.  But you can avoid that bug by creating a new layer, make sure that layer active, and then run the extension.

But if you still don't see any results, please share the link to download it.  Or it's possible that someone else might already know the answer for you.

I only downloaded and installed Inkscape from https://inkscape.org/en/release/0.92.3/windows/64-bit/exe/dl/. WriteTex was involved (https://writetex.tk/) so I tried it. I know that there exists other way to export Inkscape diagram with Latex labels to Tex file but with WriteTex it could be easier and I can see results immediately in Inkscape.

Thanks for the link.

Unfortunately, I don't understand the instructions for using the extension, which are given on that page.  I thought I would be able to figure it out, but it's "over my head".

But someone else will know how to use it, and will answer pretty soon.  Sorry I could not help.  :(

Are you sure you didn't install it? I don't have it, and I've also searched through the repository for Inkscape 0.92.x - it's definitely not there. Also not in the Windows version.

Please ask the author of the extension for help with it.

I installed it, from the page Ron gave (https://writetex.tk/).  I just don't understand how it works.  It does look like there are several steps in the dialog, where something needs to be filled in.  There is a tutorial.  I just can't sort out what needs to be filled in to them.  It looks like there's some kind of code for defining the math symbols or formulas or expressions, and that's the part that I don't understand.

If it's not in our list, it should be.  I need to log off right now, but I'll add it on tomorrow.

That 'code' is a LaTeX formula. It's meant for typesetting mathematical (and other) formulas. And the author will probably know how to use his or her own extension - while we don't.

Maybe I installed WriteTex manually with older version of Inkscape, so I'm sorry. But why it isn't still working I don't know. There are several ways how to write Tex labels direct in Inkscape but none of them works for me. Their installations are also usually complicated. Only way which works is create Latex file and then import it into the main ducument (https://tex.stackexchange.com/questions/151232/exporting-from-inkscape-to-latex-via-tikz).

Yeah, WriteTex must be fairly new, since we didn't have it in our list.  Your best bet is to contact the author.  Being apparently so new, there may be bugs which the author has not found yet.

Or there are other extensions like that.  I dont know how well they work, or whether they work though.  We have this one:  https://github.com/virrapax/XeTexText.  I can't find the link to TexText, but I thought it still was working.

Then there's this extension which includes LaTex:  https://github.com/fsmMLK/inkscapeCartesianPlotFunction2D  LaTex is not it's main function, but it's included.
