I am trying to convert a photo from my iPhone to a sketch using a Cricut machine to render the sketch. I downloaded the app Sketchmee Lite to my iPhone. I imported a photo from my iPhone into the Sketchmee app and I used the following settings: Pencil, 3-Shades,3-Overlap, Hard-Tip, Plain-Paper, and High Intensity.

I saved the photo as a PDF and emailed to my computer, (I have done this before with no problems). I downloaded the photo to import into Inkscape. When I import to Inkscape, I should see below the number of objects within the photo. The problem is I do not see any objects below. I see Groups with one layer. Normally, I would select all (around the photo) and ungroup the objects to see the different strokes. I cannot figure out why I cannot see the objects to ungroup. I usually keep ungrouping until I see just Path below. I learn this from a You Tube video called CleverSomeday Photo to Sketch. Again, I have done this before with no issues. Your assistance is appreciated.

Welcome to the forum!

I'm not familiar with the app or the process.  Someone else here might be, I don't know.  If no one else answers, you should probably contact CleverSomeday.  There's probably some contact info on YT, or for sure on her website will probably have a contact info. (there's probably a link in her YT channel or profile to website).  I think she is a member here, but I don't think visits every day.

But I do know Inkscape, and if I understand what you're saying, I could make a comment or 2.  When you say you see group below or path below, I think you're talking about on the status bar, right?  Something has to be selected before you can see that info in the status bar.

And to see "Group...." or "Path...." you have to be using the Selection tool   :sel:

It sounds like you might only have one Group selected.  Try enabling Selection tool, and do Ctrl a (select all).

Edit
Of if you already did Select All, it's possible there's only one big group, and you just need to ungroup it.

Correct, the status bar indicates 1 layer and 2 groups.   When I performed the same task in the past, the status bar indicated the number of objects. I  then ungrouped the objects until path was the only item showing in the status bar. I tested a previous photo and I do see objects in the status bar. Not sure what has changed with the new photo    I performed the same steps as before.

I can't address the app, but just have a side comment - (I love cleversomeday site too btw).  I just found out that at least one of their apps don't work on the current version of inkscape! (ex, env deformation for text).  So, you might want to go to their site and ask.  If they developed it for an older version of inkscape, you could download an older Inkscape version onto your pc (in a diff folder in your pgm files), and then it should work.  If that's the issue.

When you see that in the status bar, is everything in the image selected?  You can have a general idea whether everything in the file is selected by looking at the bounding boxes.  (The bounding box is the dashed line rectangle that you see around whatever you clicked on.)

"Group of 2 objects in Layer 1" means that there is one object selected, which is a Group, and that Group contains 2 objects.  So if everything in the file is selected when you see that, then everything is in that group.

There's no way to know what kind of objects those 2 objects are, until you either ungroup, or select them individually.  They could be groups as well, with many objects within those groups.  Or they could be some other kind of object (such as Text, Path, Circle, etc.).

But I'm still not clear what the problem is.  Is there some reason you need to know how many objects there are, at this point?

It sounds like you could just Ungroup, like you've done previously, and eventually you'll get down to paths (assuming the file has paths in it).

No reason to know the object count. I am going to do as suggested and keep ungrouping.

Thanks!
