Installing Inkscape

I'm trying to install Inkscape on my new Laptop (Dell Latitude) using Windows 10 32bit. After I've downloaded it I go into the download file and find Inkscape and it shows Inkscape 0.92.3-x86. Is this the correct file I need to install it. I'm asking because it shows x86, shouldn't it be x32 for 32bit and not 64bit? After it's installed and I open Inkscape it everything look right but when I go to "Trace Imagine" nothing shows up when I hit the ok button. If you can tell me what I'm doing wrong that would be great. This is the first time I've had any trouble.  I works on my pc with no problems.

Yes, I think you installed the wrong version.  Even though some of it might seem to be working, it would be better if you installed the correct version.    So first, uninstall that version.

Next, on this page https://inkscape.org/release/inkscape-0.92.3/ choose Windows.  On that page, choose 32 bit.  And on the next page, choose which one you want (MSI, EXE, portable or ZIP).

But I think you are not using the feature correctly.

I finally figured it out and it was working all the time. I have imported a svg file and forgot that I didn't need to do the trace bitmap part and thats what was causing me the problems.

I don't think he does.  To my understanding, you can't use a 64-bit program on a 32 bit system.  You CAN use a 32-bit program on a 64-bit system, but not vice versa.

Oh, I see.  I would expect, since the 64 bit version of Inkscape says "64", that the 32 bit version of Inkscape should say "32" and not "86".  For goodness sakes!  It's not confusing enough that Windows users have to figure out "Program Files" vs "Program Files (x86)", now they have to figure out that Inkscape x86 really means Inkscape 32 bit?

Geez, Inkscape should not be adopting Windows' screwy nomenclature!  Use something that's easy to understand!
