Hello, I am a new Inkscape user and I am wondering if it is possible to fractalize a shape. I have drawn a rectangle, selected it, went to Extensions->Modify Path->Fractalize but the shape doesnt fractalize at all when I do. I've poked around and found little, and I'm wondering if I'm doing something wrong or if it's possible.

Thanks for your help.

A rectangle is not a path. Maybe doing Path > Object to Path will help.

Welcome to the forum!

Yes, that is sadly a bad name for that extension.  It does not produce fractals at all.  It was one of the first extensions I ever tried using in Inkscape.  At the time, I had been using other fractal programs, and was excited if Inkscape could produce vector fractals.  But unfortunately, it can't  :(

Well actually, it might be possible, if you know the math formulas.  I don't remember which extension....  Oh, one of them is Render > L-Systems.  But I found it fairly limiting, without knowing how to write the formulas (or being able to figure it out).  There's another one, maybe Parametric Curves or Function Plotter?
