Lots of agenda items... which is exciting really.
Mc, ah, makes sense. I have no idea of the European countryside, I've mostly flown into cities.
K, SFC update.
First off the financial snippet https://gitlab.com/-/snippets/2494284
This
is missing some data that was actually in the last report for donations (so it shows our balance as less with no expenses) from the last report.
Pono is in Brussels so we haven't had a chance to connect and figure it out. But I'll make sure things are legit there.
So, it's there for my report, but you should probably disregard it ;-)
I'll work on getting all of that fixed for next month.
18:00
ponoI'll check with Bradley about it, but since the data was there before hopefully it's a small bug18:03
S-RafaelS-Rafael18:04
tedI've been trying to get RT tickets created and managed for everything. One thing I could use folks help with is that I've pinged @S-Rafael for info, but not gotten a response. I need that to setup the bug program RT tickets.
That one needs to happen soon as it also requires contracts to go back and forth with the SFC, so I'm worried about being late there.
If you see him in another forum, please encourage him to reach out to me.
Lastly, I've pinged the SFC about the FSA. I think everything is done on our side, but it needs to get signed and posted. But I believe FOSDEM has gotten in the way there.
I'll continue to follow-up, hopefully an update soon.
Next up: Student programs (Outreachy, GSoC, etc) ( @Tav )
But @Tav said he might be late.
I think Mc (?) put in a GSoC application for us?
18:04
Mcyep, you should have received the mail18:06
TavHi all!18:07
tedCool, I noticed you were talking about mentors and projects. Do we need to promote that any? Or are we good?
Hi @Tav!
18:07
TavWe probably need to update our GSoC page.18:08
scislac[m]Hi. I'm pseudo-present.18:09
tedHi scislac !
I don't think there's a lot more to talk about then, sounds like general cleanup and get ready stuff.
18:10
TavYup.18:10
tedNext up: Developer meeting update (Mc)18:10
Mcted: we need to tell any potential mentor that they can add projects to the gsoc page
as for dev meeting, I've missed the last two, I think (skiing!), so I'm not the most up to date
18:11
tedMc, makes sense. What are our dev announcement channels? Just the meeting, chat and mailing list? We should probably put stuff in each of those.18:13
Mcyup18:13
tedK, is there someone else that wants to report on dev? I think we're in feature freeze?
Mc, skiing sounds awesome!
18:13
Mcted: we might want to merge some ready or almost-ready features, but yeah, new features on branches that will become 1.3 will be frowned upon18:14
tedMakes sense. Which is one of the reasons I want to get this bugfix program setup, I'm worried we won't give it a fair chance if it doesn't get going soon.
K, next up: Vectors update ( @ryangorley )
18:15
McAh, do I need to wrap that vote so that you can turn it into RT ?18:17
tedMc, no I need info from @S-Rafael, including things like mailing address.
Though, I guess if you ddin't finalize it, you should. But I didn't realize and wasn't waiting on that 😄
18:17
TavSide question, how do we access the RT?18:18
ponoOnly we have access to RT. But ive worked with Ted to keep track of those tickets18:19
ted@Tav, you need the number and you can email it. I have the numbers of things if you need them.18:19
ponoI think the plan was to add the PLC email as a cc so everyone can see the updates18:19
Tavemail address?18:19
Mcinkscape@sfc18:20
ted@Tav, let's do offline, but you have to have a subject that is correct too.18:20
TavOK18:20
tedUsually I try to CC people when creating them, so you can just reply, but I'm not 100% on that.18:20
Mc\u0001ACTION is waiting for the moment sfc will buy ".sfc" to the icann so that we can have "inkscape.sfc" email addresses and website\u000118:20
tedHaha, that'd be awesome.18:21
ponoMaybe it's worth the $200,000 ICANN charges to shorten typing :)18:21
tedIt'd make the whole internet 0.00001% faster.18:21
ponoAnd that's right, anyone who recieved the ticket email can just reply to the ticket from $QUEUE@tix.sfconservancy.org to reply to the ticket18:22
tedK, seems that @ryangorley isn't here today.
Next up: Infrastructure update ( @doctormo )
Seems the good doctor is out as well.
Next up: Security Key Program (Mc)
18:22
MoiniI'm here, just joined. What's the topic?18:24
tedSecurity key program, but we skipped Vectors update, if you have anything there.18:24
MoiniAbout Screen Contest for 1.3 is going to start on Sunday.18:25
MoiniNew this time: template, topic, fewer helpers.18:25
MoiniAnd 6 weeks instead of 4 last time.18:25
tedSounds exciting. My favorite season is about screen contest season.18:26
MoiniAnd some of us have formed a Branding group, there's a chatroom for it somewhere here... #team_branding18:26
tedAh, that's interesting. What is the goal there?18:27
MoiniChallenges are ongoing (I mean, monthly drawing challenges)18:27
MoiniTwitter access has been regained for Michèle.18:27
tedGreat, do we have a solution long term there or are we still waiting on the security keys?18:28
Moinited, you'd need to ask Chris, Ryan, Pacer for details. Re-branding and harmonizing branding, I guess. No change to logo and tagline, but how they are used and fonts, I assume.18:28
MoiniMihaela is trying to get the pw into the infra repo and struggling a bit.18:28
MoiniGeany works great for it, but the old files use binary encryption, while Geany uses ASCII.18:29
Moini(provides a GUI)18:29
tedIs there any reason to not just convert over to ASCII?18:30
MoiniI think we have found how it can work now, though, she hasn't had time to actually implement it yet, I gues.18:30
MoiniNone that I can think of, except that someone who has access to all of the files needs to convert them.18:30
tedI don't think that's me. Perhaps a Mc or @doctormo
Probably not a thing for this meeting specifically, but making things more usable is always good 😄
18:30
ztw3ztw318:31
MoiniAside from those, we're hoping that Josh will be posting About Screen info to Instagram and Facebook. I don't think he has posted the challenge he had been tagged for, or the item from the 'series about new features in 1.2'.18:32
tedMaking sure he gets tagged: scislac ☝️
Not sure he's 100% here today though.
Awesome update @Moini, thanks!
18:33
McI can probably decrypt some, not sure I have all18:33
MoiniThank you Ted!18:34
Mc(I think I just have twitter)18:34
MoiniI think that's it from me.18:34
tedCool, next up I have: Hackfest ( @RdH )18:34
RdHHackfest planning will enter final stages this weekend. I'll update the wiki with some additional information regarding travel and message every participant to make sure they are aware that their commitment is now considered final.18:35
RdHIt appears everyone owns an accepted credit card after all. But I'm waiting for @Pono about whatever the SFC can offer (they are interested in booking/paying things for us to help with the financial burden) and how to ask for an advance.18:35
RdH@Tav once brought up to reach out to specific people (past contributors) to offer them a slot at the hackfest. Do you have someone specific in mind? Because otherwise we're thinking about offering this to our AI project contractor.18:35
ponoI saw some traffi  about schedulijg and booking travel. Once travel has been approved for a specific list of people i can behin scheduling those meetings18:35
RdHThe hackfest cost excl. travel expenses sums up to ~9,300 (10 participants and meeting room for 5 days) but I had the PLC vote on 10,000. The remaining funds were supposed to be a security buffer, not necessarily to be used, but we could also spend a few on a couple of beers, as alcoholic drinks are excluded frmm our otherwise "all inclusive package". Is this something anyone has thoughts on or "just do it"?18:35
joneuhauserthe contractor actually has family an hour (by train) from Bensberg so he said he might not even need hotel accomodation there.18:36
ponoRdH re:advance, I hope I can purvhase what is needed on my card instead of doing an advance as we havent donr those for noncontractors before18:36
ted@RdH, sounds like things are progressing awesomely.18:36
RdHpono: Once you're back from FOSDEM we should have that call we've talked about.18:37
tedI can put things on my CC as well, I have one of the stupid-high US limits on mine.18:37
pono@RdH thats a good idea, I could make some time monday or tuesday so we're close to the same timezone18:37
joneuhauserOn the AI import project (which was before on the agenda but skipped) see above. Contractor selected, the ball is in the SFC's court. Process is documented here: https://wiki.inkscape.org/wiki/Contracting_Process18:38
ted@joneuhauser might be easier if they stay at the hotel for meals/etc, not sure if they can be split out? @RdH ?18:38
pono(im in europe until thursday)18:38
ted@joneuhauser, uhg, sorry.18:38
joneuhauserWe'll figure something out.18:38
tedcut-and-paste error.18:38
ponoOnce Karen is back from FOSDEM we can begin negiotiations with the contractor. Ill be sure to keep thr jobs list updated about that18:39
tedGreat, thanks pono, do you have idea how long that process takes?18:39
RdHI the contractor is able to come, I'll have to discuss options with our hosts.18:39
ted(I mean, it depends on the contractor as well, but in experience)
@RdH, when do you need the final list of names for the venue?
18:39
ponohopefully no more than a week or so, but I can't say for sure18:40
tedpono, great, would be awesome to get that going.18:40
RdHFriday 10th, which is one week from now. This is final, no negotiations after that.18:41
tedK, can you (@RdH) and @joneuhauser get together to check to see if that will work?
We're kinda short on pull those together.
18:42
RdHYes, we are already in contact about that.18:42
ted👍️18:42
RdH@Tav is this ok? You we're the one to bring this up, did you have someone in mind?18:43
tedSorry to skip the AI project @joneuhauser, do you have anything else on that?18:45
joneuhauserNo, that’s all. We’ll discuss other potential contracting opportunities the next dev meeting (monday)18:46
joneuhauserIt went really smoothly. Thanks to all involved (Pono, Tracy, Mc, @RdH @doctormo)18:47
pono\\o/18:47
Mc:)18:47
tedAwesome to hear it has gone well!18:47
Tav@RdH Nobody at the moment...18:48
tedOkay, next up: Partners Program (ted)
That is just: I need to find time to get all the feedback in. My goal is to have a next raft for the hackfest.
draft... first typo is in the statement...
(trying to deadline it)
Next up: Bugfix Program ( @doctormo )
18:48
ponoGreat, looking forward to reading the draft18:49
tedDon't think anything has started there, and not sure that @doctormo is here today.
Next up: Current Votes Status
Mc just finalized the bugfix program vote.
@Tav just sent out 2023 mentor stipends.
Mastodon payment (waiting for Vectors to finalize but likely to close)
Then there is also OSUOSL donation, I forgot about this. So I'm happy to give folks to the end of the day if they want to vote on it ( cough scislac cough )
18:49
ponoI figured out the best way to donate there as well, so i can move forward once the vote passrs18:50
tedpono, ah, great!
pono, should I make an RT ticket for it?
18:51
ponoThe approvals ticket forwarding the vote yep. then ill make the accoubts-payable ticket18:51
tedSounds good.18:52
RdHRegarding votes: there will be a new vote soon-ish about reimbursing me for developer hardware (~2,500; Mac mini M2). I've been talking to @c.rogers to get this going, but he's not here today.18:52
tedAh, good to know @RdH -- more ARM builds!18:53
RdHYes! Apple has finally released the hardware I've been waiting for!18:53
ponoI'll keep an eye out for that ticket so we can get the payment processed asap18:53
pono(after the successful vote of course)18:53
tedpono, I think in the past we've gotten someone in the SFC to buy it and ship to the person, is that the best way?18:54
scislac[m]Ted: vote done18:54
tedscislac: 🎊18:54
ponoted: Yes thats possible (and faster thsn reimbursement)18:54
tedK, we can wait to get all the details but just FYI for @RdH.18:55
NPJ2000I wonder if anyone makes donations flow in by broadcasting their Hackfests on platforms like Twitch (which I hear is popular for those interested in competitive and or collaborative digitally represented undertakings). Such a revenue stream might offset expenses during the festival and overages may be devoted elsewhere?18:55
ponoSo unless its alrrady been purchased, we can do that18:55
RdHI've already bought id....18:55
RdH*it18:55
ponoOkay, we'll try and move quickly with the reimbursement then
Anything else on the agenda?
18:56
ted@NPJ2000, I don't know, not really my world. Is there anyone who's done that and gotten donations?
No, I think we can discuss fundraising ideas outside of the meeting.
18:57
McI tested that it's easy to setup, but to transform it into a revenue stream one needs a community18:58
tedSo next up: Next Meeting: Mar 3, 2023
